Our collective energy and attention can always be found as value in the works of art. About our work As an artist duo, we have been working together since 1999 on an extensive oeuvre. Our lives are in total connection with each other, with our work, with the city of Rotterdam and with developments in the world. Art is the profession in which we investigate and propagate this. The stages in the art and design world ensure visibility and sales, and new questions arise from these two worlds. In this we realize our own space and meaning, which ensures that we can continue to grow. The studio is the epic center, where the connections are made with the people we work with, the city and the art and design world and where all our ideas are transformed into works of art and autonomous design. Everything is made in our workshops, with a small group of specialists who excel in traditional techniques. This makes each work unique. We collect images, traces of the (temporary) presence of people, analyze them and transform the resulting ideas into works of art that ensure that reality and the future are looked at again and differently. We do this from the autonomy of the visual arts, in which the resulting image itself is central. But we also use the field of design, in which our work is partly included, when it has an applied meaning as well as a visual one. This makes us a visible link between the fields of art and design and our work is shown and appreciated on both stages. Since 2009, migration, the movement of people around the world in search of a place to build their livelihood, has been the recurring theme in our work. This resulted in four main projects between 2009 and 2023: Feltplant Collection, Traces of Exsistence, No One is Illegal, Collateral Damege. We have always been involved in educating young artists and designers, as interns in their studio's and projects but also as coaches in several external organisations, such as Bcademie Rotterdam and Apprentice master Program Kunstpodium-T Tilburg.
